Old Fort Benton and the remaining city

The town of Fort Benton as it stands today from across the river.
this is a recreation of one of the Fort buildings used to house the men.
This is what the walls of the original buildings looked like. They appear to be honey combed with the mud and what ever the used to form the walls.< One of the cannons that arrived in 1876 during the Indian wars -but saw no action.

These two signs indicate just what a bad town this was back in the day.

This is one of the old buildings still used today. It was a hotel then and is used for a shop and museum now.
