Hungry Horse Dam

This is the Hungry Horse Dam. It, the nearby reservoir, the town and a few other things got the name due to a couple of old horses that wandered off in the mining days. They were found later in the winter almost starved. After being nursed back to health the miners maned their mine after the horses. It stuck and the rest is history.
This is an overview of the dam. It is the 11th largest in the country and the largest in Montana.
A view across the lake. What a beautiful day we had.
Another view of the lake with a small island and the mountains in the background.
one more shot of the lake and shoreline just inside the dam boundries.
