Remi, Toni and Barb looking into Muncho Lake
one of the many bridges and rivers we crossed
historic Yukon and British Columbia dividing line
Beautiful Summit lake looks the color of the surrounding mountains
snow covered mountains at the end of Muncho Lake
Remi leading the way to Alaska
Big horned sheep that cross the road and sometimes stay for a photo op.
maps on the side of a tour van from Italy show where they have been and are going. They have logged over 100,000 miles in the last 2 years (all with only 2 tire problems)

Toni walking the dogs on one of the stops
stone sheep on the side of the mountain
rest areas are plentiful and serve for lunch stops as well as nap stops for the drivers. Beautiful areas to look at while the guys nap.
not all the folks traveling have a couch to nap on so you take your comfort where you can find it.
some of the mountains as seen across the valley
there were many hilly roads like this, some were in need of and being repaired.
The second bear we saw was wandering and eating alongside the road.
This bear was eating dandelions, we stopped for photos and it appears he may want to have lunch in Toni's coach.
The statue of the surveyor stands tall in Dawson Creek overlooking the Alcan highway.
Mile "0" of the Alcan Highway starts in Dawson Creek, B C.

adding more Provinces
Friday, June 12, 2009
North Dakota to Edmonton Alberta via Saskatchewan
And on to the scenic travels to Alaska.
One of the many beautiful sites in Jasper National Park.
First campground- a challenge to level Remi's coach. Watch that last step it could be a long one. (step wrong and you were down an incline into the bushes. Notice how jacked up the coach had to be for level.
Following our friends near one of the many lakes in Jasper National Park, Alberta.
This road really had it's ups and downs.

This was in a roadside park we stopped at. You could see the egg for quite a distance, as you will see below.

Saskatchewan/Alberta border and off to the adventures that lay ahead.
This border city is in both provinces, much like Kansas City is in two states.
Adding Saskatchewan to to the map-one more place to see and experience.
a lot of Saskatchewan was like the photo below until you got to a large city.
You knew you were in a small town when the first thing you saw was the elevators--either that or we were on the wrong end of town--nah.
This wheat art stood tall along the main street going through one of the cities in Saskatchewan.
This old house was between a split freeway - I would guess left from bygone days. Hard to get to and no place for the kids to play!!!!!!
Leaving the states once again for adventures with our Canadian friends.

leaving Mora on to Pine River then North Dakota & my old home town
The Mouse River. Where we used to go fishing as children.

someone's interesting summer home on the Mouse River.

The bell from the church I used to go to as a child now in the cemetery.
Old buildings no longer in use-the reason towns become ghost towns.

home and elevators in old home town.

My old school house or what is left of it. It was purchased by school mates brothers and the gym turned into an auto repair shop, now closed.
side and rear of old school.
old movie house where it cost 10 cents to see the movie and you hoped the film did not break.
the only gas station in town-obviously not used in a long time.
more old buildings-this one is the Occidental building as seen by the writing on the wall.
some of the schools put the graduating years on the hillsides in white stone- they are up to the present day.
old water tower in town on the way to Minot ND
another novel building on the way to Minot
lots of standing water as we head through North Dakota

storm clouds just for Jackie. This was leaving Pine River MN.
This old depot was in Detroit Lakes Minnesota.
Lilac bushes are in bloom everywhere in Minnesota and North Dakota.
Stormy skies as we left Pine River for Minot North Dakota. Yes we had some rain.
before we could leave Bil's friend Dick wanted paid for his "fish win".
