The Tanaina -one day cruise

This is a coal shoot for loading the ships - apparently there is a lot of coal in this area.
the glacier and ice field are very impressive - lots of cold air coming off the glacier
there was an underground lake feeding through the glacier-that is the Grey to the left of the glacier ice.
we saw some calving of the glacier - but no big ones as we did 2 years ago.
the weather can change quickly on the ocean-great sun and around the bend is hazy conditions and then back to the sun.
Aialik Glacier is five miles long and a mile across.
Bil and Barb at Fox Island.
the Aialik glacier and ice field.
Just the tops of the glaciers stick out of the fog bank.
the rocks on the beach here are all flat and suitable for skipping on the water.
Kayaking in the ice fields can give more exercise than expected.
Josh is holding a piece of glacial ice. He said they fish enough out to use at parties and BBQ's.
fishing in an ice field can be challenging - small icebergs bounce into the boat as it did into the ship we were on.
