
the Roann (Roy Ann) was an old fishing vessel that was to be restored.

the ship builders like to use live oak as it is a good hard wood. This is the remainder of a tree trunk that was over 600 yrs old and felled by hurricane Hugo. The owners ask for it to be transported to Mystic for use of rebuilding ships.

This is the sign about the felled tree.

These two photos (above and below) are of the restoration of the Roann. It started in Jan 2005 and they expect it to take 2 years to complete.
