The sign tells of the new and old docks. The old wooden dock is shown below. This shows how much tacanite can be loaded and how fast.
Here you can see the train on the dock above the dump shoots. The train gets into position and a man goes along to open the bottom of the cars to dump the tacanite into the shoots. (those tall red things are the shoots)
This is the loading of the taconite from the train dump into the ship. The shoot on the right shows the tacanite starting to flow into the ship.
The train can be seen above the loading device which is above the ship. The train dumps into the tall bins shown above the ship and then they are dumped into the ship. This is one of the docks used to load Tacanite or iron ore pellets.
This is the old dock.
Split rock lighthouse and Lake Superior in the background near Two Harbors MN.
Two Harbors lighthouse and grounds in MN. near Duluth. The light master and his family lived here. This is from the garden to the side of the lighthouse above.
We took a short walk to the beach near the lighthouse and saw this mom and baby ducks.
This is a view of Lake Superior through one of the portal windows in the lighthouse tower. It also shows the tacanite loading docks in the back ground.
