Star gazing in Santa Margarita

This is a view of our campsite for Star Gazer hill.

The local astronomers & those interested go to this hill on the Saturday closest to the new moon. They bring their telescopes and allow anyone to view the various stars etc. One of the people there was a professor of astronomy and an inventor of this type telescope. This one was a 20 inch. They are very knowledgeable and willing to share the information with any one asking questions.

This telescope is an 18 inch. You can see how big it is. They bring then in pieces and put them together at the site.

This is a view of Venus and the moon with my camera without the telescope.

This is the moon through the telescope lens about 8:30. We also saw Saturn with it's rings and many of the constellations. Unfortunately I neglected to take photos. Anyone interested in doing this can check where their local astronomy folks meet generally every month at the new moon. Join them and see what all the heavens hold.

more up the coast and campground in Santa Margarita

Bill in front of Morro Rock at Morro Bay.

Our campground was visited by some baby skunks. They were just running and playing. They make an interesting noise for communication.

We were also visited by some passing deer.

This lake is from a hill above our campground. Beautiful view from on high.

the first night - Grover Beach & Pismo Beach

To be assured a good ride surfing these guys use the wind, kite and board. They were going fairly fast. This was at Grover Beach near Pismo Beach. There were 10 to 15 guys in various stages of surfing.

Note the guy at the end of the kite ropes. He is in the air doing summer salts.

This is Pismo coastline with its nice beaches for surfing, walking or driving.

A beach shot is from the pier at Pismo. It was a beautiful day.

We were driving on the beach like we used to when we camped here in the 70's and 80's. We have many great memories from this place.

a bit of a struggle-but we are on our 2nd year now.

The push to get the show on the road again.

Jackie says no don't go as she tries to pull me back.

I tried to be a tree hugger --but it did not work so-------

a tug of Barb ensued between father and daughter for mom. Alas --

dad won and Barb is tied in place to get the show on the road.

This was great fun and we are enjoying another year on the road.

The climb

Mt. Rubidoux in the distance the morning Bill and I climbed it. Bill keeps insisting he has MT. Everest on his list of things to do. I said he had to start small before he could think of Everest. As it turns out it is on his list of things that can be deleted if he runs out of time.

This is a neat arched bridge and tower on the mountain.

The bridge and flag across the top of the mountain.

Bill is at the top of the mountain at the base of the cross.

campground friends and other things

This fender was the result of a lady pulling out of a side street into us. We remained in Ca for an extra week to get it repaired.

Our campfire included some neighbors. Their dog joined in as well. He had is own chair.

His own chair at least until Jean joined then he sat on Clark's lap.

This gopher snake was crawling at the back of our coach. We had it put in the neighboring trees.

Prado Park had this neat old tree, it was hollow but still had growth in progress.
